A Day in the Life of a Work-at-Home Mom

I know women, including some men, will agree with me when I say it is not easy juggling between work and family. When I decided to leave the corporate world, I was fortunate to find a good work at home. I wanted to personally attend to my kids, my husband and household chores. It was also then when we decided not to hire a helper anymore. It was very difficult at first but time management is the key. That was a year ago. Now, I have learned how to schedule my activities, my kids', and even family bonding time.

For the past three weeks until the next three weeks, my schedule goes around the house chores, the kids and of course, my work. I wake up as early as 5 AM to start my day and go to bed at 10 PM.

5:00 AM - 5:15 AM - Morning prayer
5:15 AM - 5:30 AM - Read and respond to emails
5:30 AM - 6:00 AM - Work on my blog
6:00 AM - 6:30 AM - Wake up husband. Prepare his clothes, coffee and his drinking water he has to bring at work.
6:30 AM - 7:00 AM - Continue to work
7:00 AM - 7:30 AM - Wake up Joma and dress him up for school.
7:30 AM - 7:45 AM - Joma eats breakfast. Wake up E-mann and Eiya
7:45 AM - 8:00 AM - Bring Joma to school. Tag the 2 smaller kids along.
8:00 AM - 8:15 AM - Head back home
8:15 AM - 8:30 AM - Prepare breakfast for E-mann and Eiya
8:30 AM - 9:00 AM - Have breakfast with E-mann and Eiya
9:00 AM - 10:30 AM - Do scheduled house chore (clean the house, do the laundry or iron clothes) while cooking lunch
10:30 AM - 10:45 AM - Pick up Joma at school
10:45 AM - 11:00 AM - Head back home
11:00 AM - 11:30 AM - Change Joma to house dress and set table for lunch
11:30 AM - 12:00 PM - Lunch time
12:00 PM - 12:30 PM - Bath time with kids (bonding time!)
12:30 PM - 12:45 PM - Take kids to bed for afternoon nap
12:45 PM - 1:00 PM  - Wash dishes
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Work (oDesk)
4:00 PM - 4:30 PM - Afternoon snack with the kids
4:30 PM - 7:00 PM - Back to work (oDesk)
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Dinner time
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Work (kgb)
10:00 PM -10:15 PM - Prayer time

If you will see, a work-at-home mom has so much a lot to accomplish. Lucky for those who found trusted house helper because they can concentrate on their work without thinking much of the house chores. Thus, I do most of my work on weekends, especially my articles because Daddy can look after the kids and cook for us. If he does not want to cook or the kids were able to use their charm and convinced him, we eat out. Yipeee!!!

Wow, you have a schedule! I have one in my head and I can't even stick to it. Plus, the brownouts in my part of the country is unpredictable. (ah, excuses, excuses! heheh)

Kat, it takes a lot of discipline and conscious effort to adhere on the schedule. Of course, there are times when the schedule is not followed.

Mrs. Kolca, thanks for the heads up! I will check on the other blog. Thank you for dropping by.
